Steven A. Goldberg
From the Desk of Steven A. Goldberg, CPA
After having the honor of preparing your taxes over the years, I have made the decision to retire. It has been an honor to serve you, and I sincerely thank you for trusting me to help you navigate through the complex and ever-changing web of tax laws and regulations.
It is very important to me that you get the best possible service and pricing for your future tax preparation needs. After a thorough search and careful consideration, I am happy to report that I have found the right firm to continue the high quality of tax and accounting service that you received with me. I have determined Korhorn Financial Group (KFG) to be the best fit due to their high professional standards and extensive experience. As of October 22, 2020, I will be selling my practice to Korhorn Financial Group.
KFG has been practicing locally for the past 26 years. Their tax and accounting abilities are top-notch. Their main office is located in Granger with additional offices in Walkerton, Nappanee, and Niles, Michigan. They will be able to offer you excellent service, the same pricing as last year, and many other benefits that will add value to your relationship.
Their staff is well-qualified with CPAs, Enrolled Agents (authorized to practice before the IRS), and Certified Financial Planners™ and you will have continuity of representation in all your tax matters. Like us, they have invested in the best available tax research and compliance software and are formally certified as QuickBooks ProAdvisors.
You will soon be receiving a letter of introduction from KFG which will include additional information about the upcoming tax season. I am making myself available during the transition (including next tax season) and will be happy to personally introduce you to Ryan Fair, CPA, CFP®, and the team of CPAs and tax professionals at KFG, if you so choose. In any case, we will be working closely with KFG to make clear your individual circumstances, and to answer any questions or concerns that may arise.
Our copies of your records will be transferred automatically to KFG unless you instruct us otherwise. Naturally, if you have questions you can contact me or the team at KFG to discuss them. Their contact information is:

Frequently Asked Questions
Why Korhorn Financial Group?
Korhorn Financial Group (KFG) is different than most financial firms. We believe in a holistic approach to your finances by offering a “full menu” of financial services under one roof. Our team includes certified professionals that specialize in each of the 6 areas of financial planning (Tax planning, Investment planning, Insurance, Estate planning, Retirement planning, and your present financial position.) Our team of CPAs, Certified Financial Planners, and Certified Insurance Counselors collaborate together to provide the best possible advice for your situation. Our customers come to KFG for integrated advice to help reach their financial goals.
Why should Korhorn Financial Group do my taxes?
Our team of CPAs and tax professionals help prepare over 4500 individual and business tax returns each year. We go beyond the numbers and provide proactive advice and guidance to help preserve your assets through tax-efficient strategies. Steve has worked to make this transition as hassle-free as possible for you and provided us with your previous tax returns and supporting documents. This means our team can ensure an accurate return without you needing to find past tax documents. KFG also uses the same professional tax software as Steve, which allows us to easily restore your file and move forward without any loss of data. We are able to offer you excellent service, the same pricing as last year with Steve, and many other benefits to add value to your financial life. Steve will also be available to our team through the upcoming tax season to help with any circumstances, concerns, or questions you may have.
How does your tax system differ from Steve Goldberg's?
Our process will feel quite similar to the process you followed with Steve. In January, we will send out tax organizers to help you collect your documents. When your documents are gathered and you are ready, we can prepare your tax return in a few different ways. The first way is to schedule a meeting to have one of our tax advisors prepare the return with you. This allows you to ask any questions, and often the tax advisor can offer tax planning strategies to help you with next year's return. Typically this takes about 45 minutes to an hour, and at the end of the meeting, your taxes will be complete. To schedule your meeting, call 574-247-5898.
The second way is for you to provide us your documents, either through uploading to our secure website, dropping off at our various office locations, or by mail or fax. We will then complete your return, within two weeks, and then notify you when they are complete. When you come to pick them up, a tax advisor will go over and explain the return with you and answer any questions you may have.
Do I need to bring in any past paperwork?
Steve Goldberg worked with us to make this transition seamless for you. We have copies of your prior-year tax returns and supporting documents should we ever need to assist you with a notice, audit, or question. If you have any additional paperwork you would like to share with us, you are more than welcome to.
